The JSW Group is the largest producer of high quality coking coal and a significant coke producer in the European Union in terms of production volume. The production and sale of coking coal both for energy purposes as well as the production and sale of coke and coal derivatives is the core business of the JSW Group. The coal mined by the JSW Group, mainly coking coal, is used in Central Europe by local steel mills belonging to international steel producers and regional public utility companies. The high quality coke produced by the JSW Group is also sold on the global market. The main customers of JSW Group products are customers in Poland, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Italy and India. The JSW Group processes in its own coking plants about 50 percent of the coking coal produced by the group, so it finally offers a product which is more processed and of a higher value.

Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa S.A.

Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa S.A.was set up on 1st April 1993 as one of seven coal companies established at that time. It included seven independently functioning mining enterprises, which were transformed into a sole shareholder company of the State Treasury. On 6th July 2011, it made its debut on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

JSW SA carries out its activity in Upper Silesia. It currently consists of four hard coal mines: Borynia-Zofiówka-Jastrzębie, Budryk, Knurów-Szczygłowice and Pniówek, in which coking coal and steam coal are mined, and Zakład Wsparcia Produkcji. The most important companies affiliated with JSW S.A. include: JSW KOKS S.A., JSW Innowacje S.A., and Jastrzębskie Zakłady Remontowe Sp. z o.o., Jastrzębska Spółka Kolejowa Sp. z o.o., Advicom sp. z o. o. and Przedsiębiorstwo Gospodarki Wodnej i Rekultywacji S.A.

In 2016, JSW SA's mines produced 16.8 million tonnes of coal, including 11.6 million tonnes of coking coal and 5.2 million tonnes of steam coal. In 2016, the coking plants included in JSW Corporate Group produced 4.1 million tonnes of coke.

The JSW SA mines have a total of about 6.2 billion tonnes of coal balance reserves, including about 0.993 billion tonnes of coal operational reserves. The Group intends to increase the base of operational reserves, which will enable it to maintain a strong position on international markets for the next several decades.

The JSW Corporate Group is one of the largest employers in Poland. At the end of 2016, it employed a total of approximately 27.4 thousand people, including around 21.2 thousand in Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa S.A. itself.

JSW KOKS S.A.

JSW KOKS S.A., with its registered office in Zabrze, was established on 2nd January 2014 as a result of the merger of Koksownia Przyjaźń S.A. and Kombinat Koksochemiczny “Zabrze” S.A.

Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa S.A. owns 95.72% of the share capital of the company.

The company's core business is the production of coke and coal derivatives produced in the coking process (tar, benzene, sulfur, coke oven gas).

The existing coking plants of the former KK “Zabrze” S.A. (Dębieńsko Coking Plant, Radlin Coking Plant, Jadwiga Coking Plant) and Koksownia Przyjaźń form JSW KOKS S.A. The company is the largest receiver of coking coal from the JSW S.A. mines.
