Polish U-space demonstrator

A consortium of Polish companies proudly offers the very first U-space demonstrator in the EU to test secure drone operations and traffic management to provide best solutions for specialized autonomous services around the world.

Our U-space demonstrator is composed of:

  • DroneRadar - the first operative Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management (UTM) software in the EU
  • Birdie - currently the only Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) fully compatible with the UTM system
  • Miniature ADS-B transponders – installed on UAVs and around the Test Zone to communicate with nearby aircrafts for collision prevention, and with air traffic controllers for geofencing
  • Testing Zone for U-space demonstrations where all new technologies will be tested and training for autonomous systems operators will be provided.
  • Research and Development Center for Autonomous Technology - we will adapt one of the post-industrial buildings in the Silesia Region of Poland into this R&D Center. It will be home to technology laboratories, innovative lab equipment and state-of-the-art training facilities.

Both the R&D Center and the Testing Zone will be used for research, tests and demonstrations as well as educational and commercialization purposes in the field of autonomous technology.

Our Testing Zone is predominantly devoted to Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), however, it can also be used for testing other autonomous vehicles, including cars, rail and water vehicles, and even planetary rovers. We invite all organizations interested in developing and testing autonomous technology in a safe, controlled environment to use our Testing Zone and R&D Center.

What is U-space all about?

U-space is a set of new services and specific procedures designed to support safe, efficient and secure access to airspace for a large number of drones.

  • Enabling complex, highly automated drone operations in both urban and rural areas
  • Aiming to enable immediate delivery services - from saving lives by delivering blood supplies to handing over steaming food to your doorstep
  • Supporting other types of missions from commercial to state to public entities users
  • Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) – Air Traffic Control for Low-Altitude Drones
  • Detecting and avoiding unreported obstacles on the mission
  • Tactical deconfliction – avoiding busy zones to prevent air incidents
  • Dynamic geofencing – setting and continually updating boundaries for drone flights
